Frequently Asked Questions

What types of contracts does Ratifi analyze?

Ratifi analyzes vehicle purchase contracts, vehicle leases, apartment rental agreements, and trailer and RV purchases. We're adding more contract types regularly.

Is my contract data safe?

Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Contract images are processed by our AI solely to generate your analysis and are not retained by the AI provider. We never sell or share your data. You can delete your data at any time from your account settings.

How accurate is the analysis?

Ratifi uses AI to read your contract, but all financial calculations (risk scores, cost breakdowns, rate comparisons) are performed independently on our servers using deterministic math. This means every number you see is mathematically verified, not AI-generated. You can also correct any extracted values and the analysis will recalculate.

Can I use Ratifi on my computer?

Yes! Ratifi works on the web at ratifi.app. You can upload a PDF or scan of your contract from any device with a browser. The full analysis experience is available on both the web and the iOS app.

How many credits do I need?

Each contract analysis uses one credit. Your first analysis is free when you create an account. After that, credit packs start at $1.99. If an analysis fails due to an unreadable document, no credit is consumed.

What's a good APR on a car loan?

In Q1 2026 the FRED national average for new auto loans is around 7.2–7.5%. Borrowers with excellent credit (750+) typically qualify for 4.5–6% on new vehicles. Good credit (670–749) averages 7–8%. Fair credit (580–669) averages 10–11%. Below 580 climbs to 14% or higher. Used vehicles run roughly 1.5–2% above new-vehicle rates. Ratifi pulls the live FRED benchmark and tells you exactly how your contract rate compares to your tier.

What is the money factor on a lease and how does it convert to APR?

The money factor is the lease equivalent of an interest rate. Multiply it by 2400 to get the approximate APR — for example, a 0.00250 money factor is roughly 6% APR. Ratifi extracts the money factor automatically (or derives it from the rent charge if it isn't disclosed) and shows the equivalent APR alongside it.

Are dealer add-ons like GAP insurance, extended warranties, and paint protection worth it?

Most dealer add-ons are sold at 2–4x fair-market price. GAP insurance is typically fair around $300 but often sold for $700–1,200 — you can usually buy it cheaper through your auto insurer. Paint and fabric protection are rarely worth the cost. Extended warranties depend heavily on the brand's reliability and the price. Ratifi flags every add-on, compares it to a fair-price benchmark, and tells you which ones to push back on.

What hidden fees should I look for in a car contract?

Common fees to scrutinize: documentation fee (often inflated, varies by state), dealer prep, advertising fee, nitrogen tire fill, VIN etching, theft deterrent packages, and "market adjustment." Ratifi highlights every fee on your contract, compares it to typical state averages, and tells you which are negotiable.

How long does an analysis take?

Most contracts are fully analyzed in 15–45 seconds. Larger or multi-page contracts can take up to two minutes.

Do I have to upload every page of my contract?

You don't need every page, but the analysis is most accurate with the page containing the TILA disclosure box (APR, finance charge, amount financed, total of payments) and the itemized fee breakdown. For leases, include the page showing capitalized cost, residual, and money factor. The more complete the upload, the more accurate the risk score.

What happens if Ratifi can't read my contract?

No credit is consumed if the analysis fails. You'll get specific feedback on what was unreadable so you can rescan the document or upload a clearer PDF.

Can I correct mistakes in the extracted contract data?

Yes. Every extracted value (price, APR, fees, term, residual) is editable on the analysis screen. After making corrections, tap the "re-analyze" banner and every number — risk score, cost breakdown, comparisons — recalculates from your corrected values.
